British Racing Drivers’ Club Superstar Seb Morris has welcomed an exciting development for his professional motor racing career after this week signing with Greenlight Sports Management, the brand new company established by successful endurance racers Andy Meyrick and Guy Smith.
Chester-based Morris, a professional works driver for British manufacturer Bentley Motors, is one of the first sportsmen to join the GSM stable and has committed his motorsport future to be overseen by Meyrick and Smith who, of course, need no introduction in the motor racing world.
Entrusting his burgeoning international career to GSM, Welsh 24-year-old Morris will continue his long-standing association with Meyrick – Director of the BRDC Superstar Programme and a pro racer with more than 15 years’ experience – while also benefiting from the immense wealth of knowledge and proficiency provided by former Le Mans 24 Hours winner and Bentley ambassador Smith.
“With the combination of Andy and Guy’s vast experience managing drivers, driving for works teams themselves at the highest level of GT racing, topped off with their commercial expertise, I am really happy to sign with GSM”, said a delighted Morris, “Having the combination of both Andy and Guy in my corner is absolutely unbeatable.”
Established to help steer the future careers of drivers at all levels, Greenlight Sports Management promise cutting edge development, career strategy creation and wrap-around care and support from elite sports experts. In short, GSM aims to become a leader in the field of driver development.
Uniquely equipped to provide world-class support for its clients, GSM’s founders Meyrick and Smith offer vast knowledge of the detailed workings of the motorsport sector having carved out their own competitive careers at the highest level.
Meyrick, who currently competes with United Autosports and JMW Motorsport in international endurance racing, also acts as Performance Manager for Motorsport UK’s Team UK elite driver programme which provides driver management and coaching.
“GSM has been created to identify, nurture and maximise driving talent on a local, regional and global basis”, commented Meyrick, “It has been set up by drivers, for drivers, and I know we are both hugely excited to be ensuring that the drivers in our care have the team and services that they need to maximise every opportunity.”
Smith has more than 35 years’ experience in racing and has driven for marques such as Audi, Mazda and Bentley. Serving as a Bentley Motors brand ambassador for 17 years, he won the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours in 2003 with Team Bentley at the wheel of the legendary Bentley Speed 8.
Smith added: “Andy and I are incredibly excited to be able, through GSM, to identify, develop and support future driving talent. We know exactly what it takes to succeed behind the wheel, giving us the unique ability to capitalise on the opportunities that our drivers will be presented with.”
Morris’ next track action with Bentley will come a little over a fortnight from now, over the weekend 14th/15th November, at Paul Ricard in France for the final round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
